CHALKIDIKI
Crystal Waters & Timeless Beauty
With its breathtaking coastline and relaxed atmosphere, Halkidiki offers a perfect escape for families, couples, and nature lovers. Elegant resorts, hidden beaches, and charming seaside villages create an experience that feels both sophisticated and authentic.
EXPLORE CHALKIDIKI
If Mykonos is where people go to be seen, and Santorini is where people go for the view, then Halkidiki is where people go when they know Greece well. It’s the destination many Athenians dream about all winter and where locals from Thessaloniki escape the moment summer arrives. And honestly, after spending time here, it’s easy to understand why. Three peninsulas stretch into the Aegean like fingers reaching into impossibly blue water. Pine forests tumble down to secluded coves. Luxury villas hide behind olive groves. Small fishing villages sit next to elegant marinas. Most visitors focus on the islands.
Those who discover Halkidiki often come back again and again.
HIGHLIGHTS OF CHALKIDIKI
Kassandra – Where Luxury Meets Lifestyle
The first peninsula, Kassandra, is where you’ll find the glamorous side of Halkidiki.
Think elegant marinas, beach clubs, stylish restaurants and some of Northern Greece’s finest resorts. But unlike Mykonos, everything feels more relaxed. More sophisticated. Less about being seen and more about enjoying yourself. My favourite spot here remains Afytos, a beautiful stone-built village perched above the sea, where sunset dinners somehow stretch late into the night
BEACHES
Porto Timoni – The Beach Everyone Falls in Love With
Porto Timoni is one of those places that photographs beautifully but somehow looks even better in real life.
Two turquoise bays separated by a narrow strip of land create one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Greece.
Reaching Porto Timoni requires a short walk from the village of Afionas, but the reward is unforgettable.
Sithonia
If I had to choose one area for a Yamas guest, it would probably be Sithonia. This is where Halkidiki becomes magical. The coastline is filled with hidden coves, turquoise lagoons and beaches that genuinely rival the Caribbean. The star of the show is undoubtedly Vourvourou.
Protected by a chain of small islands, the bay offers incredibly calm waters, making it one of the most beautiful boating destinations in Greece. And then there is Diaporos Island.
A tiny paradise just offshore where the water is so clear that boats seem to float in mid-air.
The Most Beautiful Beaches
Karydi Beach is one of the most photographed beaches in Northern Greece. Soft white sand, shallow turquoise waters and pine trees reaching almost to the shoreline create a picture-perfect setting.
Kavourotrypes Often called the “Maldives of Halkidiki.” Small coves, white rocks and dazzling blue water make this one of the most spectacular beaches in the region.
Possid Located in Kassandra, Possidi offers one of the most unique landscapes in Greece, where a narrow sand spit stretches into the sea creating an unforgettable setting

CULINARY & WINE
One of the things I love most about Halkidiki is the balance between authentic tavernas and sophisticated dining.
Lunch might be freshly grilled octopus at a tiny seaside taverna.
Dinner could be a beautifully presented seafood tasting menu overlooking a luxury marina.
The region is famous for:
- Fresh seafood
- Halkidiki olives
- Local olive oil
- Pine honey
- Traditional tsipouro
And unlike some of Greece’s more famous destinations, prices still feel surprisingly reasonable for the quality.

What to Eat in Halkidiki
Halkidiki Olives The famous green olives of Halkidiki are exported worldwide and are considered among the finest table olives in Greece.
Pine Honey The forests of Halkidiki produce some of Greece’s most prized honey. Many local families still harvest it using traditional methods.
Fresh Mussels The nearby gulfs are known for producing exceptional mussels, often served grilled, steamed or in traditional seafood dishes.
Tsipouro Northern Greece’s favourite spirit. Usually enjoyed slowly alongside small plates of seafood and local meze.
Goat and Mountain Meats Away from the coast, traditional mountain tavernas serve slow-cooked meats, local cheeses and recipes that have been passed down for generations.

The Secret Beaches Only Locals Talk About
Fava Beach Located near Vourvourou, Fava offers crystal-clear water and a quieter atmosphere than the better-known beaches nearby.
Trani Ammouda A long stretch of golden sand with surprisingly few crowds considering its beauty.
Lagomandra Beach One of Sithonia’s most beautiful beaches, famous for its pine trees reaching almost to the sea.
Mount Itamos – Sithonia’s Best-Kept Secret
Most visitors never realise that Sithonia has a mountain rising above its coastline.
Mount Itamos offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views in Northern Greece.
From the summit, you can often see both Kassandra and Mount Athos on clear days.
The drive alone is worth the trip.
Sunset here feels like a private show.
harter a Private Yacht
Halkidiki Sailing – Babasails Yachting or Luxury Sport Cruise offer some of the most highly rated private sailing experiences in the region.
A day at sea allows you to discover hidden beaches, secret swimming spots and spectacular coastlines that most visitors never see.
For Yamas guests, this is one of the ultimate luxury experiences.
