MILOS
Nature’s Masterpiece in the Cyclades
Shaped by volcanic activity, Milos boasts some of the most unique landscapes in the Aegean. Hidden coves, colorful fishing villages, and dramatic rock formations make this island a favorite among those seeking beauty beyond the ordinary.
EXPLORE MILOS
Breathtaking Beaches and Exotic Beauty Unlike Anywhere Else For many travellers, Milos is the most exotic island in the Aegean. Its dramatic volcanic landscapes, extraordinary colours and spectacular coastline make it one of the most captivating destinations in the Cyclades. Crystal-clear waters in shades of turquoise and emerald, sea caves sculpted by the waves over thousands of years, and hidden coves steeped in pirate legends create a landscape unlike anywhere else in Greece. Among Greece’s many beautiful islands, Milos stands apart for the unique sense of freedom it offers. It is a place where time slows down, every beach feels like a new discovery, and nature takes centre stage. Experience an unforgettable escape in luxury waterfront villas, where you can wake up just steps from the Aegean Sea and immerse yourself in one of Greece’s most extraordinary island destinations.
HIGHLIGHTS OF MILOS
The Beaches Everyone Talks About
Sarakiniko is undoubtedly the island’s most famous landmark. Its brilliant white volcanic rock formations and crystal-clear waters create one of the most surreal landscapes in Europe. Visiting early in the morning is the best way to appreciate its beauty before the crowds arrive.
Kleftiko is not simply a beach but one of Greece’s greatest natural wonders. Accessible only by boat, its sea caves, towering white cliffs and turquoise waters make it one of the highlights of any visit to Milos.
Firiplaka is perfect for a full beach day, offering colourful volcanic cliffs, soft sand and calm, transparent water.
Tsigrado rewards adventurous visitors with one of the island’s most spectacular hidden coves, while Firopotamos combines a peaceful beach with a traditional fishing village that feels untouched by time.
Paleochori is another favourite, known for its dramatic volcanic landscape, organised beach facilities and excellent seaside restaurants.
A Boat Day Is Essential
If there is one experience we always recommend at Yamas, it is spending a full day at sea. The western coastline of Milos is inaccessible by road, meaning many of the island’s most spectacular locations can only be reached by boat.
A private catamaran or a small-group sailing cruise allows you to explore Kleftiko, swim inside sea caves, snorkel in crystal-clear waters and discover secluded beaches that few visitors ever see.
For those looking for an even more exclusive experience, a private cruise combining Milos with nearby Polyaigos offers some of the clearest waters in the entire Aegean.
Quite simply, you haven’t truly experienced Milos until you’ve seen it from the sea.
Where to Stay
One of the reasons Milos appeals to so many different travellers is the variety of its villages.
Pollonia is our favourite recommendation for couples and guests seeking a peaceful atmosphere. This elegant fishing village offers boutique accommodation, beautiful waterfront restaurants and easy access to Kimolos.
Adamas is ideal for first-time visitors and families. As the island’s main harbour, it provides easy access to sailing trips, restaurants, cafés and local shops.
Plaka is the island’s charming capital. Its whitewashed streets, traditional Cycladic architecture and panoramic views make it one of the most romantic places to spend an evening.
For those looking for something truly unique, the colourful fishing villages of Klima, Mandrakia and Firopotamos offer some of the most picturesque scenery in the Cyclades.
Local Flavours You Shouldn’t Miss
Food is an essential part of every holiday in Greece, and Milos is no exception.
The island’s volcanic landscape has shaped both its scenery and its cuisine.
Start with Pitarakia, the island’s famous handmade cheese pies, before trying Ladenia, a traditional flatbread topped with tomatoes, onions and olive oil.
Seafood lovers should always ask for the catch of the day rather than ordering from the menu. Fresh red mullet, grilled octopus, lobster pasta and local fish are among the island’s highlights.
If you’re visiting during the summer, don’t miss Karpouzopita, a traditional watermelon pie that perfectly reflects the island’s simple yet creative culinary traditions.

Our Favourite Restaurants
O! Hamos is one of the island’s best-known restaurants and a true Milos institution. Located beside the sea near Adamas, it serves authentic local recipes using ingredients sourced directly from the island.
Medusa, in the tiny fishing village of Mandrakia, is famous for its fresh seafood and unforgettable waterfront setting. It is one of those places where lunch easily turns into an afternoon spent enjoying the view.
In Pollonia, Armenaki is our favourite recommendation for elegant seafood dining, while Nama offers a relaxed beachfront atmosphere perfect for long summer lunches.
For a memorable dinner overlooking the colourful fishing houses of Klima, Astakas is always an excellent choice.
Guests spending the day at Paleochori should also consider dining at Sirocco, where several dishes are traditionally cooked using the island’s natural geothermal heat beneath the volcanic sand.
Beyond the Beaches
Milos offers much more than swimming.
Visit the ancient theatre and catacombs near Tripiti, where history dates back thousands of years.
Explore the colourful streets of Plaka before climbing to the Venetian Castle for one of the island’s finest sunset views.
Take a short ferry to Kimolos for a peaceful day discovering another authentic Cycladic island.
Or simply spend an afternoon wandering through Klima, where colourful boat houses, fishing boats and quiet waterfront paths create one of the most photographed locations in Greece.
Wine & Local Products
Although Milos is not as famous for wine as Santorini, it has a long winemaking tradition.
A visit to Kostantakis Winery offers an opportunity to discover local grape varieties while enjoying tastings paired with regional cheeses and delicacies.
Before leaving the island, be sure to take home local honey, capers, handmade cheeses and high-quality olive oil—simple products that perfectly reflect the flavours of Milos.
