SANTORINI
Iconic Views, Unforgettable Sunsets
Perched above the caldera, Santorini captivates visitors with its breathtaking scenery and timeless beauty. Elegant villages, volcanic landscapes, and world-famous sunsets make it one of the most iconic destinations in the Mediterranean.
EXPLORE SANTORINI
Santorini – Beyond the Postcard – There are few places in the world as instantly recognizable as Santorini. Whitewashed houses cascading down volcanic cliffs, blue-domed churches overlooking the Aegean Sea, and sunsets that have become legendary. But after visiting Santorini several times, I can honestly say that what makes this island unforgettable isn’t just its beauty. It’s the feeling of standing on the edge of the caldera, watching fishing boats drift across the sea below, enjoying a glass of Assyrtiko wine as the sun begins to set, and realizing that some places truly deserve their reputation. Santorini is romantic, elegant, dramatic and unlike anywhere else in Greece. Formed by one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history, the island offers spectacular landscapes, world-class gastronomy, luxury accommodation, award-winning wineries and experiences that are difficult to find anywhere else.
HIGHLIGHTS OF SANTORINI
The Most Beautiful Beaches
Red Beach Perhaps the island’s most famous beach. The dramatic red volcanic cliffs create one of the most unique coastal landscapes in Europe.
White Beach Accessible mainly by boat, White Beach offers dramatic white cliffs, crystal-clear water and a peaceful atmosphere.
Perissa Beach A long stretch of black volcanic sand lined with restaurants, cafés, beach clubs and water sports.
Kamari Beach Another beautiful black sand beach with an elegant promenade, excellent restaurants and a relaxed atmosphere. Ideal for families.
Vlychada Beach Often described as Santorini’s “Moon Beach” because of its extraordinary volcanic rock formations. One of the island’s most photogenic locations.
Santorini’s Culinary Scene
One of the biggest surprises for first-time visitors is the quality of Santorini’s gastronomy. Despite its small size, the island has become one of Greece’s leading culinary destinations. Volcanic soil, sea breezes and centuries-old farming traditions produce ingredients with remarkable intensity.
Must-try local dishes include:
Tomato Fritters (Tomatokeftedes) Made with Santorini’s famous cherry tomatoes, herbs and local spices.
Fava Perhaps Santorini’s most iconic dish. A smooth purée made from locally grown yellow split peas, often served with olive oil, onions and capers.
White Eggplant Sweeter and less bitter than traditional eggplant, unique to Santorini.
Fresh Seafood Grilled octopus, red mullet, sea bass and lobster pasta are favourites across the island.
Chlorotyri Cheese A fresh local cheese rarely found outside Santorini.

The Best Restaurants
Selene – Pyrgos Probably the island’s most famous restaurant. Selene helped establish Santorini as an international culinary destination and offers refined tasting menus based entirely on local ingredients.
Lycabettus Restaurant – Oia One of the most spectacular dining locations in Greece. Perched dramatically above the caldera, it is perfect for romantic dinners and special celebrations.
Metaxi Mas A favourite among locals. Located away from the busiest tourist areas, it serves authentic Greek and Santorinian cuisine with exceptional hospitality.
La Maison Located in Imerovigli, La Maison combines elegant cuisine with breathtaking caldera views.
The Athenian House One of the best sunset restaurants on the island, offering modern Greek cuisine and panoramic views.
Santorini’s Wine Culture
Wine has been produced on Santorini for more than 3,500 years. The volcanic soil creates wines unlike anywhere else in the world.
The island’s most famous grape variety is Assyrtiko. Crisp, mineral-rich and full of character, it perfectly reflects Santorini’s volcanic landscape.
Other wines worth tasting include:
Nykteri A traditional full-bodied white wine.
Vinsanto Santorini’s famous sweet wine made from sun-dried grapes.
Recommended wineries:
Estate Argyros
Santo Wines
Venetsanos Winery
Hatzidakis Winery
Each offers beautiful tasting experiences overlooking the caldera.
The Best Areas to Stay
Oia
Oia is undoubtedly Santorini’s most famous village and one of the most photographed places in the world. Luxury cave hotels, infinity pools overlooking the caldera, boutique galleries, elegant restaurants and spectacular sunsets create an atmosphere that feels almost surreal. While it can become busy during sunset, early mornings reveal a completely different side of Oia. Quiet streets, soft golden light and a peaceful atmosphere make it one of my favourite times to explore the village.
Ideal for:
• Honeymooners
• Luxury travellers
• Romantic getaways
Fira
Fira is Santorini’s lively capital. Here you’ll find shopping, nightlife, excellent restaurants, cafés, bars and easy access to almost every part of the island. It’s perfect for guests who enjoy being close to everything.
Pyrgos
Pyrgos remains one of Santorini’s hidden gems. A traditional hilltop village with narrow streets, beautiful churches and panoramic views across the island. This is where visitors discover a slower and far more authentic side of Santorini.
Megalochori
One of the island’s prettiest villages. Traditional architecture, family-owned wineries, quiet squares and charming tavernas create an atmosphere that feels wonderfully local.
Akrotiri
Located in the south of the island, Akrotiri combines history, beaches and luxury villas. It is also home to one of Greece’s most important archaeological sites.
Private Catamaran Cruise
If there is one experience I always recommend in Santorini, it is a private catamaran cruise.
