In fact, the island’s historical connection with thermal springs gave it the alternative name “Thermia.” Located in Loutra village, the springs include two main sources:

Agioi Anargyroi Springs – located within the hydrotherapy center, with waters reaching approximately 36°C. The mineral-rich waters are traditionally associated with therapeutic benefits for conditions such as arthritis, rheumatism, and joint issues.

Kakavou Springs – located about 50 meters away, reaching temperatures of approximately 52°C and containing minerals including bromide, iodide, and sodium chloride. In 1782, facilities were created around the Agioi Anargyroi spring, including a covered pool and changing areas.
